Specialisms
At Windsor Court we provide care for a number of specialisms, see if Windsor Court Care home is right for your loved one.
Alzheimer’s and Dementia
All of the Windsor Court Staff including: carers, domestics, cooks, even our maintenance team, are trained to fully understand the complexities of dementia. As our staff are trained, they are then prepared and fully understand how to deliver care to our residents. When a new resident joins Windsor Court, all staff are made aware of how to deliver care specifically for that individual, the care assessment prior to admission helps to facilitate this and inform the team.
When joining Windsor Court, each individual receives a specific care plan, we involve family members too. This helps to identify any specialist’s changes or alterations which Windsor Court may need to ensure that the resident is completely comfortable throughout their stay.
Residents are able to do as they please at Windsor Court and within the garden. Yet we are fully aware that as dementia can be often be a challenging disease to care for, safety is taken very seriously at Windsor Court. We ensure that residents are safe yet are able to enjoy a fulfilling life.
As part of a healthy lifestyle we arrange activities and events with careers to improve residents’ quality of life. Residents can of course opt out of these activities.
We encourage residents to bring furniture and possessions to Windsor Court to increase familiarity which is important for dementia sufferers. We also support residents to compile their life stories, including photographs and mementos, just to help residents reflect on positive past experiences.
Parkinson’s Disease
At Windsor Court we know that Parkinson’s disease affects everyone differently. The symptoms depend on the individual and progresses in different ways and speeds. Resident’s behaviour can change day by day so it is essential that all staff members are made aware and are prepared. Residents who are newly diagnosed, may not need practical help at first, but it may be vital to have a carer to talk to for support as they progress.
At Windsor Court we encourage independent living and allow residents to complete tasks for themselves, support is always available from our carers.
In regard to promoting fitness and exercise, we work with professionals to devise routines to strengthen muscles, to help increase mobility and promote a healthy lifestyle. We help residents lead an active lifestyle in the safety of Windsor Court.
Medication can be a concern for those caring for someone suffering from Parkinson’s, as the regime may be complex, involving specific times and days for different medications. We understand this can be quite a daunting task, at Windsor Court we manage medicines for each person carefully. We make sure that the individual gets the correct medicine at the right time of day.
Hearing Impairment & Deafness
All of our staff have worked with residents with hearing-impairments and know how to care for residents who suffer from hearing deterioration. Our staff are trained in using visual aids and other means of communication.
Stroke
A stroke can affect a resident’s emotional and physical wellbeing for the long-term. At Windsor Court, we understand the problems that strokes can present, and the phases that individuals may go through. Residents can struggle to come to terms with what’s happened and need specialist care, we do our up-most to help residents recover.
The recovery process can vary, due to this we take all possibilities into account and develop a specific rehabilitation and treatment plan based on the residents’ needs. The Windsor Court implements programmes with support of community physiotherapists who focus on the weaknesses and paralysis affects from a stroke. This helps residents regain mobility and develop muscle control.
At Windsor Court we also help our residents develop coping strategies and techniques to help adjust to life after a stroke. Many residents require emotional support after suffering from a stroke, we deliver the same respect and care that we would for our own family members.
Our support and care aids residents to return back to normal life and complete tasks such as: eating, dressing and personal hygiene. To support our residents sufficiently, we carry out a full needs assessment when a resident joins Windsor Court. Resident’s progress is reviewed thoroughly throughout their time with us.
Epilepsy
At Windsor Court, our staff are trained to deal with different forms of epilepsy and are mindful of residents who need extra care. Our staff are conscious of how to go about supporting each individual. By building relationships with our residents we can understand their needs to a greater extent.

This is also achieved by managing treatment effectively and ensuring that residents consume a balanced diet. By encouraging a healthy lifestyle, our residents are able to benefit from a healthy mind and body. This can help to reduce the risk of seizures for residents. By organising a range of activities and exercises we help to ensure a healthy lifestyle is maintained for all residents.
Exercise helps to reduce stress levels for residents with epilepsy, we provide activities including a seated exercise-to-music class, to help further.
